The Effect of Flurbiprofen (Froben^(¢ç)) in the Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis

Abstract
A lot of drugs have been introduced in the field of orthopedic surgery for the treatment of arthropathies like rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Yet many have been proved less effective owing to their low efficacy as well as their high potential toxicity. This perhaps makes no drug specific for such arthropathies, rendering difficulties both to patients and clinicians.
Flurbiprofen (Froben¢¥) is one of those drugs recently developed and used in the treatment of such arthropathies. With its high efficacy and rare side effects this non-steroid, anti-inflammatory analgesic drug has gained an outstanding reputation in many other countries.
We are glad to inform the readers of the clinical results we obtained by using Flurbiprofen for 50 arthritic patients treated in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Han Gang Sacred Heart Hospital during the period from August 1st, 1978 to February 28th, 1979.
The results obtained are as follows:
1. The drug effect of Flurbiprofen was excellent in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.
2. The effect proved to be favorable after the first week of administration and became more prominent after the second week.
3. The side effects were negligible and the drug was well tolerated by most of the patients
